Zammai" is a word of Buddhist origin meaning to concentrate one's mind on a single object. The term "samadhi" is derived from Buddhism, meaning to concentrate one's mind on a single object, and to look at the image of the Buddha intently is called "kanbutsu samadhi. This exhibition features outstanding works of Buddhist statues, paintings, sutra copying, and Buddhist crafts. This exhibition traces the history of 1,400 years of Buddhist art in Japan with 13 National Treasures and 100 Important Cultural Properties out of 2,000 works on display. In the special exhibition, "Exploring the Riddles and Samantabhadra", a guide for upper elementary school and junior high school students, is available at the entrance for visitors to pick up.
